Under Our Plan Electricity Prices Will Skyrocket …. Barack Obama
Obama told the San Francisco Chronicle in January that under his plan that the power industry would be allowed to build a coal generated power plant “if they wanted to” but that “under his plan” his “cap and trade” system would charge for the production of every unit of power for carbon emissions to the point that it would bankrupt them. He also sated that “under his plan the cost of coal fired electricity would SKYROCKET.” Listen for yourself HERE. [No, It is not out of context]
Under my plan energy cost would skyrocket audio HERE.
I heard today the Democratic apologists saying that he (Obama) would allow the use of clean coal technology. This is a spin (lie) that they hope will cover the issue for 2 days. The truth is that clean coal technology deals with scrubbing the burning of coal to remove sulfur from the emissions (You remember the “acid rain” issue). This is what clean coal technologies deal with, not Carbon). Sulfur is a pollutant and Carbon is not. As he specifically says in the attached tape that his comments are related to Carbon Emissions and that the Carbon Offset penalty is related to these Greenhouse Gasses, not the sulfur.
The question of “clean coal” technology is in doubt as well. Biden stated that maybe countries like China and Russia would use clean coal technologies, but it wouldn’t be allowed in America. Listen to Biden yourself HERE.
Check this AP article explaining the entire mess planed by Obama/Biden as they state in their own words “under our plan.” HERE

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I wish there was at least a week left before the election. Those quotes are the kind of thing that could swing Pennsylvania and perhaps other states.
Hi Neil, I’ll take that week also………steve
Hi Steve,
I’ve heard the clip on TV, as FOX has finally gotten hold of it. On the other hand, all I get from YouTube is “We’re sorry, this video is no longer available.” Is it something wrong with my computer, or have they yanked it?
the Grit
Hi Grit………the video was up for me when I linked back after I read your comment…….steve
couldnt agree more that it is context dependent. sadly the video person did not lead into that obama was saying that if you build by todays standard and not the cleaner protocols of what the industry has agreed upon, it will bankrupt those businesses. clever editing i think. the interviwer already established the context and so, a [sic] would be nice.
can the ap get anything right. they can be flipped either side depending on who is paying.
here is my take… lets say obama wins. the ontly thing that will change is that republicans will be disappointed that they are not in control. no major or big policy changes will happen. well like you know, helathcare, taxes or such. even if the dems get a 60-40 majority, some dem will halt it because they have constitutents who dont want socialized medicine or higher taxes. no matter what side of the aisle, the politicos love power. it just so happens that the neo-cons shanked the republican party and now they are reaping what they have sown. when will the repubs kick the neocons out and restore conservative values? in 04 everyone was talking of the demise of the left. now it is the demise of the right in just 4 years. how about after we give iraq a democracy we get some here. and by that i dont mean dems in the house, sensate and 1600 penn ave. what i mean, and every reader knows it, is some true government by the people, for the people and of the people.
i am sure this will go over like a lead balloon to all but m2 and a few silent ones. i do appreciate steve opening this up
Hi Matt……..Can you provide your source on the context information in this analysis whereby the videographer cut short the context of this response? If you are referring to Kyoto limits, then I believe the point is back on Obama. Otherwise can you reference the the industry agreement that agrees to cleaner standards than currently available. Are we talking about standards that has no technology to support other than bankrupting companies that try? Also and this is a big one. What context would alter this statment (even hypothetically) “Under our plan Electricity Prices will skyrocket.” The context you argue for seems to go against the Obama/Biden other pronouncements on this issue.
On second thought about your take I should say that although the question of Abortion is not a Presidential issue (normally) in this particular case, the President will have the unique opportunity to shape the Supreme Court for I believe the rest of this generation. With the knowledge that at least two justices were holding their retirement to deny Bush the appointment opportunity I conclude that there will be 2 immediate openings after the election and possibly 3 soon thereafter. Obama has been the strongest supporter of Late Term Abortions and even denial of care for post birth failed abortions. This is as radical as anyone’s position. Even Planned Parenthoods position of Post Birth Abortion is not as radical as Obamas. I heard him state that to do anything else is the equivalent to causing the mother to revisit her original decision. What ever else we do to justify our views, in Obama’s case I am afraid he is way over his pay grade on this one…..steve
Matt…..I’m back again with additional comments. I have done some additional research into your “context” argument. I have a video that begins with the entire phrasing of the question to Obama and his entire response. I must say that I find this video compelling to it being the full context while not offering any additional exculpatory context for Obama. I feel as does the presenter at “hot air” that this full context does not alter the imperative of the post related to Obama’s position on “carbon cap and trade” bankrupting the coal generated power industry. Remember “carbon cap & trade” deals with the emission of Carbon not “other green house gasses such as sulfur” and of course Carbon Dioxide is not a pollutant at all. When we start to muddle the lingo of pollution and greenhouse gasses with carbon offsets (you know I feel the Man Made Carbon crisis is what is actually a man made crisis, not the carbon) hype the fear it need to be parsed to what is going on here. Take that with Biden’s comments that clean coal technologies is what Russia and China should do, but no new coal here in America (he made that pretty clear) and Obama’s slight of the hand by saying he would support clean coal technology in USA and then to design the framework it in a prohibitive fashion is the disservice to the voter, not the videographer. This assurance that he supports “clean coal technology” is a rubber check……..steve

Matt, I want to say as you say livid, I am livid that the Democrats brought upon our financial system this collapsed mortgage crisis thru Acorn and Obama’s original 1992 lawsuit against Citi. The settlement with Citi based on Acorn talking the Democrats in Congress into pressuring Fannie and Fredie to relax loan standards, which they did. The rip off of bonuses by the Democratic collaborators and the Demolcrats in Congress blocking every attempt of the Republicans (Neo-Cons or otherwise) to bring Fannie and Freddie into control and the fact that they are now blaming Bush and McCain for something they EXCLUSIVELY are responsible for which is maybe the greatest financial disaster in the country. That and Infanticide whether from and eloquent orator or not is by far a greater offence to this country, the world and humanity than any marital repulsion of McCain and you know that I personally dislike McCain………..steve
