Moving Toward a “Bionic” Reality………

Well I got home form the hospital yesterday with a seemingly successful Heart Pacemaker surgery.  Surgery was a breeze, but the left shoulder is quite sore.  The only bad part is lifting only 10 pounds for 4 weeks, 2 weeks no driving and no showers (looks like sits baths and chauffeurs).  So now lets see what artificial parts I have:  Electronic Pacemaker, Mechanical Aortic Heart Valve, and a synthetic (plastic or nylon or something like that) Ascending Aorta, a laser “mazed” heart but at least one real biological feature of a single Heart-By-Pass.  Only God knows what is next.  Sheesh, it hurts just writing it down.  Maybe I’ll soon get back to writing some posts so you can jump back down my throat, but try and avoid the left shoulder for a couple more weeks, okay?  Anyway, have a Merry Christmas and HNY………………from NSL

P.S. Headed back to the Southern Command on Jan. 5th.

    Hey Steve!
So sorry to hear you had to have surgery, but glad it worked out okay.

Take care of yourself and get your strength back - you’ll need it for the upcoming year and all the a$$ kicking you’re going to have to do.

    Merry Christmas.

Writer Chick…………..thanks so much for the holiday greeting and visit. I’ll try to re-gather my strength and gird for the coming battle………steve

Wow, I had no idea all of this was going on.. So glad to hear you are doing well.
    Happy New Year!

Hi Misi………..thanks for the good tidings. I’m feeling much better, but still swollen and sore a bit……..Have a Happy New Year too! ………..steve

The 6 million dollar man was a childhood hero of mine, and so are you- and with all your cybernetic enhancements- the two have become one.

I just hope no-one can hack into your pacemaker using their i-phone.

Imagine programming your heart to play old Phil Spector Drum beats–

they would probably keep better time than your heart did pre-pacemaker,

Jeff………My heart rate pre-pacemaker was normally around 46 bpm which would have made for some boringly slow music not to mention drum beat……………..dad

    Hi Steve,
Glad to hear that you are doing well with your most recent surgery. My husband has an artificial elbow with a lifetime weight restriction of 8 lbs. So, you will be better than new in 4 weeks? ;) That’s great news.

Your son blogs too?! Where have I been? :)

    Happiest New Year to you!

Hi Tammi, Thanks for the wishes and blessings. My son only blogs a little. He has his blog and a website for his church. He is the pastor of a Vineyard Church that he planted about 3.25 years ago. He is doing well and they had 400 at Church the Sunday before Christmas which was their Christmas Service. He usually averages between 360-380, but they have been growing regularly since they started with about 50 in 2004………….steve

Glad the surgery was successful, but sorry about the sore shoulder. Happy New Year!

Thanks and a great new year to you…………steve

    I’m artificial too.

I had a double heart valve replacement.

Not quite the 6 million dollar man though.

My surgery only cost $224,000 (in billings).

All the best and thanks for sharing.

    Heart Valve Surgery

Adam……….thanks for stopping by. My Open Heart Surgery was in the vicinity of $150,000 but the insurance companies knocked that down radically. It seems that the best saving with insurance companies is the money they save in the pricing not merely that they pay the bill. Pitty those guys without insurance that have to pay the high price. Hope all is well with your two valves………steve
