Now That is What I’m Talking About !!!

bmw-h7.jpg  Again, I have been away tending to pressing family matters, but I wanted to comment on this recent article about a new vehicle.  BMW is taking to (very limited) production it new H7 Hybird Gasoline/Hydrogen engine powered sedan.

I have laughed and scoffed at the E-85 solutions, the Prius Hybird and the role that Carbon Offsets are alleged to play in it all, but this in my opinion has the potential to be the real deal.  I will sign on when they move this to a straight Hydrogen fuel powered vehicle and ditch the gasoline altogether.  This vehicle has recently been tested in Palm Beach and I am including a link HERE for the complete article from the Palm Beach Post.  I encourage you to read it.  I think the government and al gore could better spend their time supporting this type of effort as opposed to the nonsense they are spieling.

This could take some time to get the tank down to a more manageable size, engineer affordability into it and provide for a better infrastructure for Hydrogen (gas stations), but even if it is 5 or 10 or even 15 years, this is a better solution and we should drill all the oil we can to keep the economy alive until we reach the “golden age” of motor fuel.

By-The-Way, it is pretty good looking isn’t it?  I think it already looks much better than the current (disappointing) iteration of the BMW 3, 5 and 7 series.  This would really be a sweet deal concerning our “friends” in the Middle East.

I thought you wanted an environmentally friendly new Range Rover ;)
glad you are back. hope when you are back in west palm you will have more time to blog. still waiting for direction on your redesign.

MZ……..there you go, I could get a Hydrogen powered RR when they come out. I won’t need to buy a train car load of Carbon Credits from algore then :) ……………… Dad

glad to hear from you. wishing you the best as you help out the family.

i like the idea of using hydrogen fuels, but i can say that we need a much more comprehensive drivers training program here in america if we go this way. all of the rubbernecking, hot-rodding and general offensive driving here would put us in a serious risk for explosions worse than a 70’s pinto.

i have some german colleagues who tell me that it is quite expensive to earn a drivers liscense in europe and this helps fray the collateral damage from idiots.

i enjoyed your comments on design of the new bmw. ironically, even though i did not see an edsel until an auto show, i really liked the way it looked in pictures. the whole automotive society panned it, but it was forward thinking like the tucker car was creative that ironically lead to its downfall.

Matt………You would probably have a better idea about this than myself, but if you go to the link and read the article, they discuss the relative safety issue of the Hydrogen Tank vs. the Gasoline Tank and they seem to strongly support the Hydrogen as being the safer. Interested in your thoughts……….steve

The great this about this engine is that it uses Hydrogen just like gasoline as far exploding it to move pistons goes. It makes for a BMW eco-car that still has BMW driving dynamics. :]

I kinda like the new 3 and really like looks of the new 1. Slightly less Bangleized.

BD……….if that exploding doesn’t put the car into orbit it could be the answer to all those prayers (except the ones to Allah). ………steve

SWEET. In a few years, when I get a new car (sshhh… don’t tell my Volvo - not that I would sell her, just retire her from daily driving), that’s what I’m going for.

This is all very exciting. I haven’t been into the newest line-up of cars - too small, too boring, and fuel economy that is not an improvement over my Swedish brick. I mean, really - hybrid Honda Accords that get 25 mpg?

Bridget………..yeah, we’ll have to hang on to our gas guzzlers a while longer, but I am hopeful! …………..steve

    heard a funny joke:

around new york, “Run, Hiliary Run!” bumper stickers are showing up on cars. Republicans put it on the front bumper and democrats on the back bumper

Matt…….Well that is the first thing to bring a smile across my face today. I am still deep in problem solving over matters for Gayle………steve

    Steve,

I hope everything is going well. Hoping for the best - I’m thinking about you.

Bridget…..Thanks so much for the sentiments. Haven’t had much time to write my own posts or read others. Just got back to Florida and hoping thing relax in a week or so. Maybe then I can get back to the old routine. Still trying to settle some of those law firm sale issues via email, phone and fax now that I am down south….steve

Justice Stevens telecommutes from Fort Lauderdale… maybe the two of you can hang out by the pool, solve some legal issues, and drink pina coladas. :)
