Who are the Terrorists?
I was reading Neil Simpson’s blog 4Simpsons Blog and saw graphic above on his sidebar. I really like the graphics that Neil uses on his blog and have borrowed them and used them here before. The thesis of this statement is “Since the start of the Iraq War 5,444,155 American Children have died from ABORTION.
This caused me to remember when Rosie grossly overstated the number of deaths in Iraq since the war and then implied that they were all cause by the Americans when she said, ”650,000 Iraqi have been killed since the beginning of the Iraq war, ….Who Are the Terrorists?” This of course was the source of the major controversy and argument between Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie leading to her Rosie’s quitting the VIEW on ABC.
With this information running through my head I decided to send email to Elisabeth at the VIEW and I stated the following.
Since the start of the Iraq War 5,444,155 American children have died from ABORTION. In the words of Rosie O’Donnell “Who are the Terrorists?”
I wonder if Rosie in all her brilliance has that answer.

I wish that liberals and anti-war activists would just shut up for five minutes and think hard about what they are actually saying… if they’re even capable of thinking hard.
I read this book,
Wrath of Angels: The American Abortion War for one of my classes this semester. It was really interesting because, although I was not exactly surprised, I had never realized before that the pro-life movement was started by leftist Catholic anti-war activists. Back then, liberals realized that to maintain the “pro-life” position they had in being against the war, they also had to fight abortion. Even though I disagree with their logic for being anti-war, or in many cases anti-death penalty, at least I can appreciate and respect their consistency in being “pro-life” across the board. You really can’t say the same for most of today’s liberals.

Disgusting and barbaric isn’t it? This is indeed a wicked generation that calls evil good, and good evil. Just to see that the right to kill your unborn child is seen as the pinnacle of womens rights showcases that this kind of stuff is nothing short of satanic rebellion against God’s will.
That is an interesting point. I remember when the Women’s movement began back in the late 60’s and early 70’s and how the crowning achievement is their right to kill. Who would have thunk it????
My mom and dad conceived me when they were 16 and 17. Yes that’s right 16 and 17. Do you know how many people told my mom to abort me? It’s crazy to think about but my mom has never been afraid to share her story with me. My parents are still married and now I have a little one because she made the RIGHT choice. It just peeves me when kids are viewed as an inconvience. UGH!

I once did a post about the inconsistencies in three areas: death penalty, abortion, and vegetarianism. The Left tends to be, IMHO, irrational: you can’t kill a cow, you can’t kill a mass murderer, but you can kill a human baby. The Right makes sense: you start off with human dignity and the right to life, being human, and you can only lose those through stripping them from another (i.e. capital murder). Innocent human life should live; guilty humans do not have that right.

The class was an upper-level government lecture called “Evangelicals and American Politics.” It was actually really interesting because the professor was Catholic and most of the class was secular (with a few Christian evangelicals). It was surprisingly balanced for a class at Cornell (especially within the govt dept.) and really interesting. We studied American evangelicalism from the early 1900’s and their increased political involvement leading up to the present day.

i hate war and all that it does to both sides- but the war on life here in america…that is something on a whole different level.
we’re not doing it to improve, empower, enlighten, or defend anything. oh i know, besides women’s liberation- what a joke. we’re doing just the opposite: abortion destroys families, takes all power away from God, is barbaric-to say the least…more like animalistic (eating the young), and we are far from defending any one.
why is the evil of this so easily disguised for some?

I added it, not from the “terrorist” angle that you did, but from the sheer numbers and my value for human life, and the belief that its wrong to kill t he unborn.
I so appreciated misi’s comments that she wouldn’t be here now if her mom had followed the advice of others.

You like to point out hypocrisy when you think you see it in “conservatives” or “NEOOOOO-Cons”. I’m surprised you don’t see it in the left in general (i.e. Rosie in this case). Rarely are abortions necessary evils. Family Tree is irrelevant, it is anecdotal and so what, you family aren’t baby killers ….. cool. Sure both are bad but I wouldn’t use that point to insulate the supporters of abortion. Problem is, in this country Abortion is usually more lethal than war. Difference also has a lot to do with innocence. Surprised that doesn’t strike you the way it does others. But in the end you can pounce on “neo-cons,” fine, and then hate abortion but then turn your cheek. That’s noble. Have you been compromised? I realize you can’t stand Republicans because they are trying to kill Islamofacists but you don’t detest the baby killers the same way. Yes, this is a moral question itself, not propaganda. You can’t get off with that. Thou is the one that doth need the perspective……me think.

I saw you try that little trick with Grit “I see you never went to war” thing. Difference is I have been to war and since you bring it up, have you? And why don’t you point me to those left wing blog threads where you have taken them on about abortion in the same way you do about war. That will be interesting. And cool with “true” conservatives (you must mean the paleo version)? I doubt it.

I’m interested to know that you have & it helps me in understanding your perspective. Kind of like, I have an easier time digesting guys like McCain, Powell & Clarke & not so easy a time with Rove, Cheney & Bush as it relates to their opinions on war.

The Reagan Version? As in Operation Urgent Fury? Sounds like this wouldn’t meet the muster of the Paul Doctrine, the Buchanan Doctrine (true paleo), nor the Carter Doctrine on Pre-Emptive war. It sure didn’t meet the test of Maggie Thatcher, Canada, the UN or about anyone else in the world at that time except maybe Jamaica and Barbados, but contrary to what you hear from the Democrats today the Democratic Congress came to support this with exception of the Black Caucus and a few other assorted congressmen.
As I recall you didn’t buy into the concept that the Reagan factor intimidated the Iranians into releasing the hostages, that’s too bad, the contrary is Carter apologetic spin. Reagan is a guy that really knew how to yield American influence world wide. Enough Guns and Butter (with tax cuts) to bring USSR to its knees. Sounds like neo-con leanings to me, he’s even from the roots of the Democratic party. But I’ve been confused by Buchanan himself who I have never heard utter a single negative word about the Gipper whom he served as a speechwriter but only words of worship and adoration. His military doctrine in my opinion was “speak loudly and carry a big stick.” It seems he doesn’t have a non-interventionist foreign policy to me.
Yes, this administration has not been a conservative one in many areas. I’ve been unhappy about the border thing (he, Bush, has Hispanic people in his own family and I think may be too close to the issue). I have been unhappy with his excessive spending which was some fatuous idea (in my opinion) to appease the lefties. He was doomed in that effort to win their love as he is on the Kennedy/Bush legislation for “immigration reform.” And I think (hope) it is going down. Is that Party Line or Administration Line????
BUT……… even Bush said during the campaign that his economic goals would be off with either a war or recession. He essentially inherited both. But at least he was either smart enough or advised well enough to know that he would need to cut the marginal tax rates and adjust investment incentives to kick start the economy. This must have been tough in the face of an amen chorus from the media as the Democrats in Congress claimed that the “just enacted tax cuts would not work but would make the recession worse.” I really rolled when I heard that one. But again, he still should have held a tougher line on non-defense discretional spending but it is so nice to have Teddy come to the White House and watch motion pictures and eat popcorn. Bush was pretty naive about that. And I would have had a harsher tone with the Democrats as they continued to hurl continuous extremely pejorative comments. I’d have opted more for the B-Slap thing. That is why I do some of it here to put into perspective (that word again) their glass houses.
You would definitely not go to war? Neither would it be my preference, but I was sent and did so willingly. Same with my father (although he enlisted), so maybe he and I were cut from the same cloth.
….and I am not too enamored with what boils down to the “chicken hawk” argument (it is cute but not funny). We had one in the previous administration and it didn’t seem to bother the Democrats too much when he went pre-emptive. But most of this “chicken hawk” talk comes from the “chicken chickens.” God forbid the day when we have a chief executive that wouldn’t go to war as a matter of policy, especially if only because they didn’t serve themselves. It would, however, quite the “chicken hawk” slingers and their nah nah nah nah nah-nah.
I guess you don’t see the existential threat from the Eastern World that guys like McCain (eek), Giuliani, Thompson and that I most definitely see. This explains a lot. They didn’t in the late 30’s and 40’s until we were attacked (with or without FDR’s advance knowledge) by Japan, which of course caused us to declare war on Germany and invade Morocco first thing. I wonder what the “chicken chickens” or Jimmy Carter would have thought about that?

I should note a correction here. My father didn’t enlist in WWII, he just quit his job in the defense industry (along with its national security deferment) in order to avail himself for the draft, which happend immediately….
Propaganda? Hypocrisy? Huh? Oh yeah. That’s right - “propaganda” is one of those overused buzzwords that has been churned out wholesale and slapped on anything that some folks might not care for, during the last - oh - eight years or so. As an added bonus, the word “propaganda” is loosely associated in people’s minds with Nazi and Communist unpleasantness. What a deal, huh?

Well, there’s no hidden meaning. They’re pretty straightforward numbers, I thought. If it needed to be boiled down further, I suppose one might be able to get from war vs abortion figures:
1) lots of Americans dead from war
2) lots more Americans dead from abortion
What does it mean, exactly? Well, it’s no more and no less than a comparison between the number of people killed one way versus the number killed another way to kind of put the larger number into…yes…perspective.
What!?! Seriously? “Slighting death through war?” Slighting? Hardly. How in the world is it slighting our war dead to compare the grim results of our nation’s wars with the even more grim results of our culture’s “war” on itself? I would venture to say that many of those killed in our wars might consider themselves to have given thier lives for the betterment of the nation. I do wonder if those same war dead would consider abortion to be to the betterment of the nation? Also, I wonder if those same war dead would find this comparison insulting themselves, or maybe since many of them were willing to give so much to protect Americans kids, maybe they might find the killing of American kids through abortion itself to be the insult to them?
